About

Ryan Nevill is a second-year Master of Fine Arts Candidate in Studio Art with an emphasis in Sculpture at the University of North Texas.

Born and raised in Southeast Missouri, he earned an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design from Mineral Area College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Southeast Missouri State University.

His artistic practice is grounded in disability studies, embodied cognition, and sensory experience. Through his work, Ryan explores the complex relationships between the body, lived experience, memory, and cultural expectations surrounding ideas of normalcy.

Working with materials such as handmade paper pulp, repurposed fabric, and plaster, alongside both traditional and digital processes, Ryan transforms personal experiences into sculptural works and installations. His practice encourages viewers to consider their own bodies, memories, environments, and relationships with the idea of being “normal,” while questioning how these understandings are shaped through individual and collective experience.

Ryan’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including exhibitions in Ohio, Texas, Missouri, Wyoming, and Australia.
