Bodily Disfunction

Series Overview

Bodily Dysfunction is an ongoing sculptural series exploring the relationship between mental health, sensory experience, and the body. Through rope cord, plaster gauze, and repurposed bedding, I translate invisible psychological and neurological experiences into tactile forms that challenge conventional ideas of disfunction, presenting it instead as a lived condition that shapes perception and identity.

The series draws formal inspiration from medical imagery and the body's hidden architecture. Referencing X-rays and anatomical structures such as the pelvis, ribcage, spine, and vascular systems, I abstract these forms into sculptural compositions that balance recognition and ambiguity. Their rhythms, curves, and lattice-like structures become visual devices for exploring fragility, resilience, and transformation.

Using photogrammetry, 3D scanning, 3D printing, and CNC routing, I embrace distortion and fragmentation as metaphors for shifting memory and perception. Through sculpture and installation, the series invites viewers to engage with vulnerability and embodiment while fostering empathy and challenging assumptions surrounding disability and neurodiversity.
